Four new research fellows join the consortium, based at the University of Bath, the University of Edinburgh, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and University College London. Dr Alice Tompson Based at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Alice will work with the SPECTRUM team in Work Package 1. Alice joined SPECTRUM as a research fellow in September. Her research interests include the commercial determinants of mental health and of antimicrobial resistance. Dr Alice Tompson, LSHTM Work Package 1: Systems science Dr Rachel Barry Rachel joins the SPECTRUM team at the University of Bath, as part of Work Package 2. She is a research fellow exploring the political influence and regulation of unhealthy commodity industries (namely cannabis, tobacco, e-cigarettes and alcohol) with expertise in questions around coherence and coordination in approaches to regulating the commercial determinants of health. Dr Rachel Barry, University of Bath Work Package 2: Corporate conduct Dr Vera Buss Vera joins the UCL Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group as a research fellow on Work Package 3, working on the Smoking and Alcohol Toolkit Studies – a large population-based survey on tobacco and alcohol-related behaviour to inform action. Dr Vera Buss, UCL Work Package 3: New data Dr Helena Tunstall Helena is a health geography researcher working within the Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Health (CRESH) in the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh. Helena will be part of the SPECTRUM team on Work Package 5. Her recent research has focused on using commercial retail data to assess the relationship between tobacco and alcohol retail environments and neighbourhood health and social disadvantage.
