In January, SPECTRUM hosted the Alcohol Evidence in Policy and Practice workshop, building on our previous knowledge exchange events. This 3-day event brought together a range of stakeholders from academia, public health sectors, charities, and government with an interest in how to reduce alcohol-related harms. SPECTRUM Alcohol Knowledge Exchange Workshop Experts from across SPECTRUM, wider community of academic researchers and alliance partners presented across key themes including alcohol health and policies, licensing and public health, marketing and pricing, and inequalities. Sessions also focused on addressing industry activity and framing, and on practical advocacy. The workshop was attended by over 40 participants. Participants found the breadth of areas covered to be invaluable learning opportunity, benefitting from open and engaging discussion on important and current topics. There was a strong interest in seeing similar events repeated in the future. The workshop was co-sponsored by the NIHR Addictions Policy Research Unit and the Institute for Social Marketing and Health at University of Stirling, who will run similar workshops in the future. The event was brilliant and it was organised so thoroughly.
