Dr Lauren White has written a blog on her PhD, which examined parents’ and children’s views on the regulation of online advertising of unhealthy food and drink to children 07 August 2020 The UK Government has recently inidcated the actions they will take to tackle obesity and help adults and children to live healthier lives, including intending to ban products high in fat, sugar and salt being shown on TV and online before 9pm. Dr Lauren White, SPECTRUM Research Fellow based at the Usher Institute, University of Edinburgh has published a blog with the Obesity Health Alliance summarising the results of her PhD "Understanding the Policy and Public Debate Surrounding the Regulation of Online Advertising of High in Fat, Sugar and Salt Food and Beverages to Children", which she undertook at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow. The results from Lauren's research suggest that there is support for government action on advertising of unhealthy food and drink to children to improve the food environment children grow up in.
