A new documentary seeking to highlight the role of commercial industries in shaping science and health policy is released. The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has released a new documentary, Unmasking Influence, which was funded by the SPECTRUM Consortium and is now publicly available to view on LSHTM's Vimeo channel.The film explores the growing body of evidence showing how the actions of various commercial industries can shape science, influence policy, and impact public health. Through first-person accounts, Unmasking Influence highlights the strategies corporations use that contribute to harm and exacerbate health inequities, while underscoring the urgent need for greater transparency and action. Featuring a series of in-depth interviews, the documentary follows experts and advocates as they describe their journey toward understanding industry influence and outline what is needed to prevent further damage.The project was co-led by researchers May van Schalkwyk and Mark Petticrew at LSHTM who share their insights and experiences alongside a number of expert contributors including Paula Leonard, Chris van Tulleken, Patti Rundall, Marco Zenone, Ben Hawkins, Keith Tyrell, Gerard Hastings, Salma Abdallah, Katherine Severi, Oliver van Beeman and Margaret McCartney.
